Ancient President Trump appeared to receive significant approval from Republican and independent voters who were part of a Fox News Digital focus group during his response to President Biden’s statements on immigration during the CNN presidential debate Thursday night.
When CNN moderator Jake Tapper asked Biden to educate voters on how he could curb the record number of illegal immigrants crossing the borderthe two presidential candidates argued over their immigration policies, culminating in Biden calling Trump a “liar” and Trump appearing to not understand some of Biden’s responses.
After touting Congress’ bipartisan border bill, which lawmakers rejected earlier this year, Biden said, “We’re in a situation where when (Trump) was president, he was separating babies from their mothers, putting them in cages, making sure that families were separated.”
“That’s not the right path to go. What I’ve done since I changed the law, what’s happened? I’ve changed it in such a way that we’re now in a situation where we have 40% fewer people crossing the border illegally. That’s better than when he left office. And I’m going to keep moving forward until we get a total ban on the total initiative versus what we can do with more Border Patrol and more asylum agents,” Biden said.
During Biden’s statementsRepublican and independent voters who participated in the Fox News Digital focus group gave the president low approval. When Trump responded, however, those same voters’ approval skyrocketed, indicating support for the former president’s positions on the subject.
Republican approval lines are coded red, while those for independents are coded yellow and those for Democrats blue.

Trump, not seeming to understand Biden, responded: “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence, I don’t think he knows what he said either.” »
“We had the most secure border in the history of our country,” Trump added. “All he had to do was leave it. He decided to open our border, to open our country to people coming from prisons, from mental asylums, from insane asylums, to terrorists – we have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now.”
