Former President Trump lashed out at teleprompter operators over technical problems he said he encountered during his Sunday rally in Las Vegas.
“I didn’t get teleprompters, and I haven’t had one from the beginning,” Trump told a crowd of supporters gathered in the searing heat to show their support.
“I pay all this money to teleprompt people. And I would say 20 percent of the time, they’re not working, they’re not working. The thing is moving. They can’t tighten it any more. I’m trying to look,” he said, trailing off. “So we’re all in this together, everyone. Just a waste.
Trump expressed his frustration with the teleprompter issues several times in his speech.
At one point, Trump suggested he wouldn’t pay for the teleprompter’s services because he wasn’t happy with the work.
“He just said, ‘Teleprompters don’t work, sir?’ ‘Not even a little bit.'” Trump said, apparently recounting a brief exchange he had with a crew member.
“Good job! And then I don’t pay the company that does it, right?” Trump said. “And then I end up with a story: ‘Trump doesn’t pay.’ I don’t pay entrepreneurs doing a shit job. And it’s a shit job. You can’t read a word.
“Then they will say: ‘Oh, isn’t that terrible?’ Trump is taking advantage of his…’” Trump added, trailing off. “No… when I have a good contractor, a subcontractor, no one gets paid faster. But when I have contractors doing this kind of work? You can have them.”
Trump refers to the past report which revealed allegations from hundreds of workers and contractors that they were not paid in full by the former president.
