“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin warned President Biden on Wednesday that he can’t “live in fear” of his party’s left wing on immigration or it could harm him cost the election.
“This is a crisis. This is the top issue for voters,” Griffin noted. Moments later, she said of the president: “He has five months to prove that he can help resolve this process and I will say this: Joe Biden cannot live in fear of his left, otherwise he will lose.”
Biden temporarily suspended the entry of noncitizens across the southern border once the average number of border encounters exceeds 2,500 per day for seven days, according to officials.
The co-hosts discussed the backlash he received from both sides of the aisle, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., who said Biden was “using the same tools” as Donald Trump to address the border.
Griffin argued that both Democrats and Republicans were wrong in the immigration debate, citing the left’s argument that anyone who supported border security was “bigoted and racist.” Griffin said Republicans were wrong to block the border Biden-backed package before Congress earlier this year.
Co-host Sunny Hostin admitted that Biden took executive action because “it’s a political threat.”
“It’s five months before the election but at least he’s doing something,” Hostin said.
Co-host Sara Haines lamented that Biden had to take action himself because Congress failed to pass the border bill.
“The problem with this executive order, which requires Biden to do this, is that it doesn’t include a lot of the most comprehensive parts of this bill, which is to say they have outdated systems there. They don’t have enough help, they don’t have enough help.” “There aren’t enough judges, social workers, everything else,” Haines said.

“It’s a band-aid that he was forced to do, and so some people call it politics,” she said. “Something has to be done because if we saw this happening for decades and decades…After Donald Trump and Title 42 expired, the numbers got too high.”
Biden’s executive action at the border allows the suspension to remain in effect for up to 14 days after a seven-day average of fewer than 1,500 encounters along the border. Officials said it would make it easier for immigration officials to deport people who do not have a legal basis to remain in the United States.

The order includes a number of exceptions for those crossing the border. It will not apply to visa holders, unaccompanied children, victims of a “serious form” of trafficking, as well as those facing an acute medical emergency or imminent threat to their life or their safety. It also does not apply to those seeking to enter the United States through ports of entry using the CBP One app – of which approximately 1,500 migrants are allowed in each day.
