Strands, The New York Times’ very good word search game, has been officially added to the NYT Games app on iOS and Android.
For me personally, it’s huge. Strands has become my favorite of the The New York Timessince its beta launch in March, but I was annoyed having to switch between the app and a browser to complete my daily life. Word, ConnectionsAnd Strands. Now I can do all the puzzles right in the app while drinking my morning coffee. It’s the little details!
Each Strands The puzzle has a theme. This theme hints at the words you will need to find, including the word “spanagram” which spans on opposite sides of the puzzle. Each letter in the puzzle is used for a thematic word or spanagram. If you need help, you can get clues by finding three non-thematic words on the board.
Strands is currently the New York Times“the third most searched game, behind Wordle And Connections,» and is “almost as popular” as Spelling, The New York Times said in a blog post. Most people are finishing their Strands enigmas too: “We systematically see 83% of Strands players finding the Spangram every day, and the success rate is around 81%, similar to the Mini crosswords And Floor tile.” Strands will be added to the Game tab in the main menu The New York Times app “later this year”.
