Deaton, a vocal advocate of XRP and critic of current regulatory approaches to digital assets, has officially secured his spot on the Massachusetts Republican ballot for the 2024 US Senate elections. notable attention, paving the way for a direct challenge against outgoing Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Deaton’s entry into the political arena follows his vocal criticism of what he perceives as overreach by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and in particular targets Senator Warren’s position on the regulation of cryptocurrencies. “Bad news for one of Washington’s most entrenched career politicians. In a series of declarations shared on A huge thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who worked tirelessly to collect more than ten thousand signatures.
He added: “Make no mistake, I’m in this fight to win. Massachusetts voters are fed up with corruption in Washington. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s extremism represents everything that is wrong with our current politics and why voters tell me they are ready for change.”
Deaton has played a significant role in legal battles involving XRP, a digital currency often in the crosshairs of U.S. regulators. He ostensibly critical the SEC’s classification of XRP as a security, which contrasts with the position of several other countries which consider it an insecure asset.
“Japan was one of the countries that declared that XRP was NOT a security. Yet our SEC, without any legal backing, declared XRP itself as a security,” Deaton remarked. He highlighted his representation of 75,000 governed that XRP itself is not a security.
Reflecting on his legal accomplishments and advocacy for cryptocurrency, Deaton positioned his Senate bid as part of a broader battle against government overreach. “Our next greatest victory against government intrusion and oppression will be when I defeat Warren this November,” he said.
Deaton’s campaign has already attracted support from a variety of quarters, including crypto-related political action committees (PACs) and individuals within the crypto community. like Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson as well as individuals outside the community such as Marc Cuban who view his candidacy as a counter to Senator Warren’s alleged “irrational attacks on the crypto industry” and her efforts to sever ties between banks and cryptocurrency entities.
As the first Republican candidate to appear on the Massachusetts ballot for the upcoming election, Deaton’s campaign is poised to become a focal point of discussions about the regulation of cryptocurrencies and their role in American politics more wide.
