A passenger was banned from their flight after trying to cope with a virus packing tip.
Inside Orlando International Airport, an excited passenger, thinking he could hack the system, showed up to his flight with a pillowcase in hand. Trying to get around the airline’s carry-on baggage rules, the man stuffed the thin sheet with his belongings, claiming it was a pillow.
On TikTok, user @natashaorganic captured the interaction between the ticketed passenger and airline staff. She documented their argument until airport police arrived and escorted her away from the gate.
At first, the man, wearing a white beanie and black backpack, is seen speaking with a flight attendant wearing an orange safety vest. Their voices are muffled, making it difficult to decipher what exactly was said.
“Stop letting these social media sites give you tips and tricks because sometimes it won’t work, okay? » said the TikTok user. “This guy was trying to take a pillowcase full of clothes and other items, which he claims is just a pillowcase.”
Natasha said it was obvious the passenger wasn’t just bringing a normal pillowcase or pillow. Additionally, the man was offered the opportunity to pay the appropriate fee for additional carry-on baggage, but he declined. However, towards the end of the video, the man can be heard saying he is willing to pay. Unfortunately, it was too late.
“He waited until they closed the doors to be like, ‘Okay, I’ll pay for this now,'” Natasha said. “And then he tried to like Bogart his way into this fucking, I don’t know what it’s called, before he got on the plane.”
She added: “And they were like, ‘Brother, back off.’ We gave you a chance and you didn’t pay for it. And they ended up calling the cops. And he ended up being expelled. »
Natasha ended her story by urging viewers to “stop listening to the internet”, blaming the passenger’s faith in a travel tip found online as the reason he was ultimately kicked out of the airport.
A few months before this incident, the pillowcase hack went viral on TikTok, tricking travelers into stuffing the sheet with clothes to avoid paying carry-on fees.
On RedditAnonymous users warned others not to try the trick, admitting they knew people who didn’t pull it off.
“I don’t know. At SFO the check-in ladies told us we had to put our pillows in our bags,” one person admitted, while another said, “I think low-cost airlines prices treat a pillow as a personal item I agree with wearing lots of clothes and putting things in your jacket as a tried and true method.
