A man and woman were arrested in the Lake George area of New York after police say they left their child unattended while boating on the lake.
The 30-year-old father and 28-year-old mother, from Pennsylvania, were arrested Tuesday by state police in Queensbury for “endangering the welfare of a child.” State police, in a Press releasesaid troopers responded to reports of a “baby left unattended on the beach” shortly before 5:50 p.m. Tuesday.
A passerby heard the child, present about five feet from the shore, crying profusely and alerted the police. An investigation determined that the infant had been left unattended for approximately 15 minutes while the parents went boating on the lake.
Baby released to the care of a family member
The parents were taken into custody, but were later released after receiving appearance tickets, reportable to Lake George Municipal Court on June 27.
A New York State Police spokesperson told USA TODAY that the child, less than a year old, was not injured and had not been returned to his parents. The infant, whose sex has not been identified, was released to a family member.
