The Dalmatian Coast in Croatia, the Amalfi Coast in Italy and the coast of Monaco on the Mediterranean Sea often appear on lists of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Here are some pictures. It’s hard not to agree. The fourth photo represents the coast of Marin, near San Francisco. It’s also beautiful but is it obviously more beautiful than other coastlines? Personally, I do not think so. But one thing is different. Far fewer people enjoy the Marin coast. For what? Because fewer people live there. Can something be beautiful if there is no one to see it?
There is something to be said for protecting wilderness, but should we do it on some of the most precious lands in the world?
I agree with Market planning“We simply have to build Monaco on Pointe du Marin.”
Hats off to Bryan Caplan who emphasizes beauty in his excellent, Build, baby, build.
