Season in statistics and highlights
For a £170m match
- Victory is worth at least £170 million, even if the winners finish bottom of the Premier League next season.
- Based on payments from previous seasons, the team that finishes last in the Premier League will receive around £95 million in central revenue, although this figure could change depending on how often that team is broadcast live at British television.
- If the play-off winners are relegated, they will receive just under £76m in parachute payments – clubs that spend one season in the Premier League are only eligible for two seasons of parachute payments, which are amounts to approximately £75.6 million spread over two years. Teams relegated after more than one season receive an extra £15 million in the third year.
- Surviving the Premier League for a season would see that figure rise to over £285m – the team that finishes 17th will receive around £100m in central payments and also qualify for the extra £15m during the third year of parachute payments.
