Kenyan President William Ruto has sacked all his ministers and the attorney general with “immediate effect” following recent deadly protests that led to the withdrawal of an unpopular tax bill.
The president said the decision was the result of “thoughtful thinking, listening to Kenyans and an overall assessment by my office.”
He said he would now hold wide consultations to form a broad-based government.
The dissolution of his cabinet does not affect the vice president, who legally cannot be dismissed, and the first cabinet secretary, who is also foreign minister.
