Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butler launched a series of attacks on President Biden’s leadership in a recent commencement speech, criticizing the president’s abortion policies, gender ideology and COVID-19 pandemic.
In a commencement speech last Saturday at Benedictine College – a Catholic liberal arts college in Kansas – Butker said the negative aspects of society in recent years could be blamed on “bad leaders who don’t stay in their ways.” “.
“While COVID may have played a significant role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” Butker said during his speech. “Bad policies and lack of leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, and increasing support for degenerate cultural values and media all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder.
“Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but who at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross at a pro-abortion rally,” he continued.
Biden is only the second American Catholic president and was forced to balance the burning issue of abortion with support from the Democratic Party base for reproductive rights.
The president often attends Saturday evening Mass with his family, either near his home in Wilmington, Del., or in Washington, D.C., and the White House has maintained that Biden’s faith is personal to him.
Biden noted that he was not very pro-abortion, but openly supported reproductive rights previously granted under Roe v. Wade.
He did not hesitate to criticize Republican leaders and states who decided to restrict access to the medical procedure. Her support for access to abortion prompted the Church not to offer her communion.
Butker’s remarks were an apparent reference to when Biden made the sign of the cross last month at a rally against abortion restrictions.
“He was so supportive of the killing of innocent babies that I’m sure for a lot of people it seems like you can be both Catholic and pro-choice,” Butker added. “He is not alone. From the man behind COVID lockdowns to the people pushing dangerous gender ideologies on America’s youth, they all have one glaring thing in common: They’re Catholic. This is an important reminder that being Catholic alone is not enough.
The Biden administration has unveiled a series of protections for the LGBTQ community over the past three years, with the president unafraid to attack Republicans who fight against such policies.
