Israel’s men’s soccer team received a cold reception from fans at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday night as it debuted his Olympic Games against Mali.
Fans booed and whistled inside the stadium as the Israeli national anthem was played. The volume of the stadium loudspeaker was increased, apparently in an attempt to drown out the boos. Israeli footballers then they had to face boos every time they touched the ball.

The match against Mali was tense, and the team arrived under heavy police escort. Armed police patrolled the stadium in an attempt to calm tensions. However, videos on social media showed clashes between fans.
In one particular case, a woman was holding a Palestinian flag. Two other people holding Palestinian flags then stood next to her. Security officers intervened.
