STORY: Huawei claims to have made breakthroughs in a number of areas, including artificial intelligence and operating systems.
The Chinese tech giant made the claim on Friday.
He also said that it only took the company 10 years to achieve what the United States and Europe took 30 years to achieve.
Huawei Consumer Business Group President Richard Yu was speaking at a three-day developer event in China.
He said the company’s Harmony operating system was now available on more than 900 million devices and had made major advances.
He added that Huawei’s AI infrastructure is now the second most popular after Nvidia.
Yu said operating systems and other software have been dominated by Europe and the United States for years.
But he thinks Huawei has an opportunity to overtake them.
Data shows that the company’s HarmonyOS phone operating system surpassed Apple’s iOS in the first quarter of this year.
This saw it become the second best-selling mobile operating system in China behind Android, with a 17% market share.
