An unidentified man threw a grenade at a military recruitment office in the western Ukrainian town of Busk overnight, causing an explosion but not injuring anyone, police said Monday.
Police said in a statement that they were investigating the incident, which comes as Ukraine steps up efforts to enlist civilians in the armed forces more than 28 months after the Russian invasion.

Police in the western Lviv region said the explosion damaged the facade of the conscription office and its windows. The man fled after throwing the grenade, they said.

There have been persistent cases of men flee Ukraine to avoid military service Throughout the war, in recent months, Ukrainian media have also reported violence against conscription offices and conscription officers.
When asked if they were worried, The Ukrainian Army told Reuters that maintaining public trust was an “important element of the (armed forces’) activities, without which it will be extremely difficult to achieve victory over the enemy.”
