Tyson Fury is adamant that nothing will stop him from defeating Oleksandr Usyk when they fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world on Saturday.
Neither man has ever lost a professional fight before. Fury is a rare undefeated, two-time world heavyweight champion – he had to relinquish the titles he won against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 before claiming Deontay Wilder’s WBC belt.
Even against an opponent as formidable as Usyk, who was an undisputed cruiserweight champion before moving up to heavyweight, Fury is confident he will prevail when they meet, live. Sky Sports Ticket Office This weekend.
“Why am I going to win? Because that’s what I do. I win, win, win no matter what,” he said. Aerial sports. “I always won.
“What I accomplish are victories. Whether it’s by an inch or a mile, I accomplish every time. Sixteen years as a pro, I’ve been giving birth my whole life. They should m ‘call the midwife because I’m still giving birth.’
However, Fury is not speculating on how he will defeat Usyk. He is also very willing to improvise.
“I’m sure Sugar (Hill Steward, his trainer) has an idea of what he wants me to do in the fight. For me, I’ll find out when I get there. I’ve seen a lot of styles already. “I’ve fought orthodox and southpaws, tall, short, fat, thin…I’ve fought them all,” he said.
“Then I’ll find out when I get there.”
The real difference, he suggests, will be desire. “At the end of the day it’s about who wants it more that night and I think I’m that man,” Fury said.
The “immortality” of boxing history will push him to continue.
“It’s the time of Hector and Achilles,” he said. “So when there were two best fighters that day, the two best were Hector and Achilles. That’s it. This is to find out who is Hector and who is Achilles.
“I think the Achilles is me.”
A cut is not enough
Fury’s fight with Usyk was due to take place in February but had to be postponed to May 18 when the Brit suffered a cut in his fight.
With time relatively limited for healing and recovery, it has been suggested that Usyk could take advantage and try to target Fury’s scar tissue.
But the WBC champion scoffs at the idea that it influences Usyk’s fight.
“The cut is what it is. If it opens up in the fight, it’s fantastic,” Fury said. Aerial sports. “It’s not like I’ve never been cut before, is it?”
Fury faced a terrible cut before defeating Otto Wallin in 2019.
“I heard Klitschko say that to fight, you have to target the cut. That’s not going to beat me. What are you going to do? Get some blood, some blood on me. Blood running down my face ., that’s not going to stop me,” he insisted.
“I just hope the ref lets me cut my eye, if that happens.
“You need an army to stop me. Never mind a cut eye.”
