England Netball has announced the 23 players selected for the Vitality Roses program for the 2024-25 international season.
The announcement sees Beth Cobden and Zara Everitt return after a year’s break, and Jessica Shaw after a longer absence.
Tash Pavelin, Lois Pearson and Paige Reed are new names to feature, all having been brought up in the Future Roses program.
Sasha Glasgow and George Fisher have not been included at this stage as they focus on their injury rehabilitation with their national clubs, while Halimat Adio, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, Laura Malcolm and Elle McDonald have made the decision to take a step back from the national team. full-time program.
Of the 23 selected, 20 are based in the UK and play in the Netball Super League (NSL), with the other three – Eleanor Cardwell, Helen Housby and Francesca Williams – playing their domestic netball in the Suncorp Super Netball league in Australia.
Head coach Jess Thirlby said the selected squad “excites” her and takes the Vitality Roses closer to their ambition of winning the Netball World Cup in three years’ time.
“I would like to congratulate all of the athletes selected for this year’s Roses program,” Thirlby said. “What an exciting cohort to work with and who I know will help us move closer to our bold ambition of winning World Cup gold in 2027.
“We always expect to have a brilliant mix of talent in any national program, but the balance between the desire to perform and the potential of this team excites me and I hope the fans do too.”
The Vitality Roses program runs for 12 months and includes training camps in the UK and competitive opportunities at home and abroad, as well as club support for players during domestic seasons. Any players not selected to the team for the full-time program are still eligible for selection for the competition.
