Attention: This item is will make you hungryThere is simply no other solution. Even if we humorously break down the good and bad of Deadpool and Wolverine teaming up with DiGiorno on a limited edition pizza series, Just talking about pizza will make you want to eat a slice.
But which slice should you eat? Well, there are four options, all of which should be available in stores now, in conjunction with Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated multiverse movie, which hits shelves on July 26. Here’s the breakdown with official descriptions:
- The Wade Special:A sweet and salty combo not just for mercenaries, made with pineapple and black olives to pay homage to Wade Wilson’s pizza in the first film.
- Give me Chimi:A chimichanga-inspired pizza that’s a party for your taste buds and topped with spicy cumin sauce, beef topping, jalapeño, and cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
- Spicy wolf pie:Made especially for Wolverine and other meat lovers, this pie is topped with pepperoni, chorizo, and bacon.
- Maximum Pep:Made with maximum flavor and no regrets—just like Deadpool’s decisions—Maximum Pep is loaded with sliced and diced pepperoni.
Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s get to the nitty-gritty questions mentioned above. Questions like: Do these themes make sense? Are the flavors appealing? And, ultimately, are you interested because you read 500 words about pizza and now you just want one?
Let’s start with the Wade Special. This one definitely makes sense. It’s from the first movie and is a fittingly weird and gross combination. We don’t necessarily want it, but we can approve of it. The Gimmie Chimi also seems to fit the brand. Ask anyone who knows Deadpool what food they associate with him and they’ll ask you to pass them the chimichangas. It’s a natural fit.
But from there, things get a little offbeat. There’s the Spicy Wolvie Pie which pretends Wolverine is a meat lover and then just mixes a few different meats together. First, East Is Wolverine a meat lover? Where does that feeling come from? Is it just because he stabs things? Either way, Wolverine is definitely Canadian. So the fact that the topping is regular bacon and not its northern counterpart seems a bit of a misfire in terms of theme. On the other hand, in terms of taste, we imagine it’s the right choice.
Then there’s the Maximum Pep, which from what we can tell is just a pepperoni pizza. Is it diced, probably because Deadpool has swords? Yes. Does that change the taste? No, it doesn’t.
But at this point, you’re hungry, right? We told you so. And honestly, while the first two pizzas are much more character-specific, I’d rather eat one of the two that aren’t. So it’s a win-win for pizza lovers and Marvel fans alike, either way.
