The Chicago Cubs Reliever Colten Brewer is headed to the IL after a poor reaction to a bad outing Saturday.
Brewer was removed from the game in the third inning against the Los Angeles Angels after getting just two outs and allowing three runs on two hits and two walks.
As Jorge Lopez came to replace him on the mound, Brewer entered the Chicago dugout and decided to punch the wall out of frustration.

Marquee Sports Network reported that Brewer broke his non-throwing hand after hitting the dugout wall.
He was placed on the 60-day injured list with a fractured left hand, and the Cubs selected Hunter Bigge’s contract to take his roster spot.

Frustration like this has led to injuries in the past.
In 2004, Yankees pitcher Kevin Brown had to miss time after punching a wall in the team’s locker room, breaking two bones in his non-throwing hand.
Emotions can run high in any professional sport. And in those moments, we’ve seen coolers and water cans thrown onto the sidelines and into the dugouts.
For baseball in particular, buckets of sunflower seeds and chewing gum usually go flying as well, and baseball bats are sometimes used to hit the objects.
Trying to channel anger differently is the ideal method in these moments, but for that to happen, the priority is not to cause injury. Brewer will now spend time healing an injury that should not have happened in the first place.
Brewer, a 6-foot-4 right-hander who played three games with the Yankees last season, has had a difficult 2024 campaign with the Cubs so far.
