Rep. Maxine Waters, Democrat of California, received backlash on social media in response to her reaction to the criminal conviction of former President Trump in a post where she mocked the former president.
“Trump shut your mouth!” Waters posted on X following Trump’s conviction.
“Are you talking about saving the Constitution? You are the one who disrespected the Constitution and you have supporters who believe in getting rid of the Constitution! Shut up, you are doomed on all counts!”
The post, which sparked an immediate reaction from conservatives on social media, was viewed more than a million times on X.

Fox News Digital reached out to Waters’ office for comment but did not receive a response.
Waters was widely criticized for what many called a call for violence in 2018 when she encouraged her supporters: “If you see anyone from this cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, in a gas station- service, you go out and you create a crowd. and you push them away and tell them they’re not welcome anywhere anymore.”

Trump was guilty on 34 counts of first-degree falsification of business records Thursday. Each count carries a maximum prison sentence of four years. In total, Trump faces a maximum sentence of 136 years.
A few moments after the the verdict was returned by the jurythe former president spoke to reporters in the hallway outside the courtroom.
“It was a disgrace. It was a rigged trial by a conflicted and corrupt judge, a rigged trial and a disgrace. It would not allow us to change venue,” Trump said. “We were at 5 or 6% in this district, in this zone. It was a rigged and shameful trial.”
Trump said “the real verdict will be delivered by the people on November 5.”
