Comedian and actor Russell Brand recently announced that he would be baptized as a Christian.
The famous actor, comedian and podcast host made the announcement in a brief video he shared on social media on the morning of April 26.
In it, he also points out that other people also seem to be turning to Christianity as the modern world loses its meaning.
COMEDIAN RUSSELL’S BRAND: “FASCIST”, “NAZI” JUST PRACTICAL TERMS FOR “PEOPLE YOU DISAGREE WITH”
“This Sunday, I’m taking the plunge. I’m getting baptized,” he said, filming himself standing outside.
Highlighting his fascination with the Christian sacrament, he continued: “What was explained to me is that it is an opportunity to die and be reborn. An opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in the name of Christ.”
Brand then referenced a verse of Scripture, adding: “As it says in Galatians: you can live as an enlightened and awakened person. »
Brand, who produces long-form YouTube content exploring a variety of topics, including current events, politics, culture and spirituality, described baptism and similar rebirth rituals in other major religions as “so inviting and so beautiful”.
He then acknowledged that there seems to be a trend back to Christianity today, as times become more confusing.
“People are so cynical about growing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but for me, it is obvious. As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions collapse, we are all becoming more and more aware of the existence of this strangely familiar figure of awakening and calling that we have all known throughout our lives, within us and around us. »

“And for me, that’s very exciting,” he said.
Brand has been exploring Christianity for some time now. Months after he was the subject of a formal investigation into his alleged sexual misconductBrand told his audience that he began reading the Bible as well as the works of Christian philosopher CS Lewis.
In January, Brand published a video of him at X explaining why he wore a cross, stating: “The reason I wear a cross is because Christianity and in particular the figure of Christ seems to me to become inevitably more important as I become more familiar with the suffering, the purpose, the me, and not yourself.
In the same video, he said he never embraced the faith when he was younger because it either seemed too “old-fashioned and dusty” or too modernized.
Brand also shared a clip from his podcast on X on April 18, in which he taught his followers how to recite the Rosary, a popular Catholic prayer conducted with a rosary.
