The American team was looking to make a quick statement to begin its Copa America match against Bolivia, and it came off the foot of Christian Pulisic.
THE United States men’s national team got off to a strong start in their group stage as Pulisic found the back of the net with just over two minutes into their opener Sunday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The United States prepared for a corner kick at 2:17 of the game, and Pulisic made a short pass to Timothy Weah to start a two-man game in the Bolivian penalty area instead of sending one toward the net.

Weah threw a pass to Pulisic and, instead of a cross, the AC Milan midfielder launched a shot towards the net with a rotation of the ball from right to left.
The shot was at the perfect height to go past the Bolivian goalkeeper, who got a finger on the ball but couldn’t alter the shot enough to stop it.

The ball hit the crossbar and fell straight to the side of the net, creating an early 1-0 lead for the United States.
Pulisic turned around and found his teammates on the American bench as AT&T Stadium went into a frenzy.
It was Pulisic’s 30th career international goal, and he would add his 16th assist to Folarin Balogun’s goal late in the first half to make it 2–0.
The United States looks to assert its dominance in Group C, which includes Panama and Uruguay.

Pulisic is one of the players that head coach Gregg Berhalter leans on with his veteran presence and knack for creating offense to win games early, and the Pennsylvania native is already making an impact in this tournament.
