Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, took the Sphere in Las Vegas by storm over the weekend. The flagship cryptocurrency was showcased on the world’s largest LED screen as part of Crypto.com’s anniversary. Despite the excitement, discussion erupted regarding Dogwifhat’s campaign to bring the memecoin to the Sphere.
Bitcoin invades the Las Vegas Strip
On Sunday night, the world’s largest cryptocurrency immortalized the Las Vegas skyline for a minute and a half after being displayed in the Sphere. The spherical enclosure houses the world’s largest indoor and outdoor wraparound LED displays, worth $2.3 billion.
The Sphere released a video featuring a massive Bitcoin logo taking over the Las Vegas Strip before transforming into rotating gold coins with the Bitcoin logo. As a result, the flagship cryptocurrency became the first crypto to be featured on the Sphere’s screens.
The ad was made by cryptocurrency exchange platform Crypto.com, which was celebrating its eighth anniversary. The platform shared a fragment of the video on various social media platforms, saying it wanted to pay tribute to the protocol that made it all possible.
For the finale of our 8th anniversary, we pay tribute to the protocol that started it all.
Additionally, locals reported spotting the ad, with some users saying that Bitcoin “instantly became the coolest cryptocurrency.” Others expressed disbelief at seeing the massive logo on the screen as they walked past.

Community members also shared their appreciation for the milestone. X users praised the cryptocurrency exchange’s ad, saying, “Now that’s how you push adoption forward!” and calling it “crazy marketing.” Additionally, Micostrategy co-founder Michael Saylor reacted to the news on X, telling his followers to “get used to seeing Bitcoin everywhere.”
What happened to the Sphere WIF hat?
In the responses to the Bitcoin announcement, community members began discussing the Dogwifhat community initiative to bring the memecoin sensation to the Las Vegas Sphere. “Bitcoin is on the Sphere before dogwifhat,” said one X user said.
In March, a fundraising campaign begin display the WIF on the world’s largest LED screen for a week. “Wif on Sphere” aimed to raise $650,000 to achieve the feat, a goal that the community quickly reached. The goal was surpassed by nearly $50,000 in the following days.
This achievement fueled the bullish momentum of the token, propelling the price to a new ATH of $3.36. Additionally, it demonstrated the support of the WIF community, the popularity of memecoins, and the new marketing strategies employed by the crypto community.
Four months later, the community has yet to see the “Sphere WIF hat” invade Las Vegas. Many people who donated to the initiative have questioned the campaign organizers, among them cryptocurrency trader Ansem. The trader received massive backlash due to the delay in implementing campaign promises.
Several donors believe they have been scammedwhile others believe that the crypto ad will not happen and have asked for a refund. Despite the doubts, the organizers have repeatedly assured us that they are working to make “wif on Sphere” happen soon.
Like some underlinesCrypto.com’s recent Bitcoin ad could have paved the way for WIF’s campaign. Users pointed out that many sites are reluctant to display cryptocurrency-related ads due to regulations, which could be problematic for a community-driven campaign. Ultimately, it remains to be seen when the Las Vegas Sphere will be targeted by WIF.
