How many times have you heard a phrase like this: “Because companies only care about making money, they and their managers are hard-hearted toward their customers and employees.” » Even some people who believe that, on the internet, corporations are good for our economy, often describe them as uncaring because of their profit motive.
I don’t defend all businesses. That would be stupid. But I would like to highlight a recent case and a case from about twenty-three years ago, regarding companies going above and beyond. While these two cases are likely outliers, anyone who has been around corporations extensively can probably vouch for my assertion that corporations are more caring than the quotes above make them out to be. Additionally, since people who make hard-hearted claims often want government to regulate, we need to understand that governments are usually much worse.
