Apple has tapped App Store chief and former marketing executive Phil Schiller to represent the company on the nonprofit OpenAI board, according to a report of BloombergSchiller will reportedly have an observer role, meaning he will be able to attend board meetings but will not be able to vote or act as a director.
Last year, Microsoft has also joined the board that controls OpenAI as a non-voting observer. The fact that Apple and Microsoft both sit on OpenAI’s board could make it more complicated to discuss plans with either company.
