CNN anchor Anderson Cooper admitted Thursday that he would “absolutely” have doubts about Trump’s former lawyer. The testimony of Michael Cohen if he was a member of the jury.
Cooper made the comments while speaking to CNN legal analyst Elie Honig about a notable moment in Cohen’s cross-examination, the anchor described as Trump’s lawyer catching Cohen in a lie.
“Absolutely. I think it’s devastating to Michael Cohen’s credibility on this particular topic,” Cooper told Honig when asked if he thought Cohen’s testimony about his attempted phone call to Trump was untrustworthy.

Cooper’s admission comes as the two experts discuss Cohen’s questioning by Trump lawyer Todd Blanche, who alleges he paid adult film star Stormy Daniels on direct orders from the presidential candidate. 2016 presidential election to cover up an affair between Trump and Daniels.
Testifying before prosecutors Tuesday, Cohen said he called Trump’s former bodyguard Keith Schiller on Oct. 24, 2016, to contact Trump about the payment to Daniels.
However, as requested by Trump’s legal team Cohen Thursday, Blanche released recordings of text messages that Cohen had sent to Schiller shortly before the phone call. The text messages revealed that Cohen had asked to speak to Schiller about a 14-year-old prankster who was harassing him.
The records indicated that Schiller told Cohen, “Call me,” just before the phone call, which Cohen said was to Trump about the payment. When Blanched asked Cohen what it was about, Cohen admitted that the call was in part about harassment of the 14-year-old.
“Part of it was the 14-year-old … but I know Keith was with Mr. Trump,” Cohen testified.
Trump’s lawyer went on to accuse Cohen of lying during the exchange, an accusation Cooper seemed to agree with. He also expressed his belief that many others present in the courtroom I saw it that way too.
“You could understand the importance of the moment and everyone in the courtroom could tell, and if you weren’t aware of it – the clicking of the typewriters of all the reporters in the room – it “It was like a crescendo because the drama of the moment was so clear to everyone in the room,” Cooper said.
“If I were a juror in this case, I would think that this guy is making this up as he goes along, or that he’s making up this particular story,” the CNN host added.
