DigitalHealth.London and CW Innovation (the flagship innovation program run jointly by CW+ and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) announce the opening of applications for the third cohort of the Horizon Fellowship programme.
Built on the existing DigitalHealth.London Digital Pioneer Scholarship, the Horizon Fellowship supports individuals employed by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to lead innovation projects aimed at optimizing patient care and improving the overall patient experience. Since its creation in 2022, the program has supported a total of 32 employees working on digital transformation projects.
Natalie Nunesconsultant obstetrician gynecologist at the Trust and Horizon 2022/23 grantee, developed her idea of using virtual reality VR headsets to reduce pain and anxiety in women undergoing manual vacuum aspiration procedures after experiencing loss during the early stages of pregnancy. The technology is now offered for a range of outpatient procedures across the Trust.
The program showed me what is possible when you have an idea and the support to make it happen. I want to keep improving things and I’m already looking to do more.

Horizon Scholar (2022/23)
The Horizon Fellowship provides fellows with peer-to-peer support through action learning bundles as well as access to workshops, resources, and events that cover topics ranging from difficult conversations to assessment. They will also have the opportunity to be matched with mentors who are accomplished leaders in the business and healthcare sectors, allowing them to benefit from their extensive experience.
We are excited to continue our collaboration with CW Innovation to offer the Horizon Fellowship program. Empowering staff to improve their digital expertise has a direct impact on patient experience and operational efficiency. We look forward to supporting the next cohort to help them build their knowledge and confidence in implementing digital change.
