Slovak President Zuzana Caputova said the assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fico was an “attack on democracy.”
“I’m shocked, we’re all shocked… The hateful rhetoric we see in society leads to hateful acts. Please, let’s stop this,” she told reporters.
She also confirmed that police had arrested the attacker and that authorities would provide more information “as soon as possible.”
