Speaker Mike Johnson is ready to meet the representative Marjorie Taylor Greene as House prepares for potential vote to oust GOP leader.
The Georgia Republican pledged last week to force a vote to remove Mr. Johnson from his role as Speaker of the House. If Ms. Greene triggers a “privileged motion” on his motion to quashthe House will be required to vote within 48 hours on his impeachment.
Now Mrs. Greene is together meet Mr Johnson privately on Monday afternoon.
Ms. Greene’s efforts to impeach the President are supported by Rep. Thomas Massiéa Republican from Kentucky.
Both men criticized Mr. Johnson’s confidence and willingness to work with Democrats to pass several bills, including the supplemental bill. foreign aid legislation to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
However, the vote to oust Mr Johnson is unlikely to succeed. Democratic leaders said last week they would vote to save Mr. Johnson.
Top House Democrats Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark and Pete Aguilar said in a statement that “at this time, having completed our work on national security, the time has come to turn the page on this chapter of pro-Putin Republican obstruction.”
