Bayern Munich have placed Erik ten Hag on a new list of possible successors to Thomas Tuchel, but their attention is firmly on Manchester United.
Sky Sports News It is understood the Bundesliga giants have contacted Ten Hag’s agent Kees Vos to see if the Dutchman would be willing to take over at the Allianz Arena.
No formal discussions have taken place with the United coach himself, but he has been informed of Bayern’s interest.
Ten Hag has made it clear to his team that his only aim is to finish the season strong with the Old Trafford side still wanting to secure European football and win the FA Cup.
The 54-year-old, who is confident he can stay at the club beyond the summer despite uncertainty over his position as INEOS makes sweeping changes to the structure of football, is held in high regard by the Bayern.
Bayern’s hierarchy believe Ten Hag’s training has been hampered by a litany of off-field problems and a poor operational set-up at United. His work at Ajax and his first season in England have received more credit than the current injury-riddled campaign, in which Ten Hag has also had to cope through a prolonged takeover.
He is not the only candidate Bayern have turned to after Ralf Rangnick became the latest man to reject their offer to replace Tuchel after Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso.
If INEOS decides to part ways with Ten Hag at the end of the season, it is understood Bayern would not be the only potential suitor, with Vos and his agency SEG having contacted two other clubs.
