Last week, the New York State Court of Appeals ruled that the judge in the former Hollywood mogul’s case erred by allowing testimony from women who made allegations about Weinstein for which he had never been charged. The judge had “erroneously admitted testimony of alleged, uncharged, prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the appeals court ruled in a 4-3 vote. The decision also states that the trial judge compounded the error by allowing Weinstein to be cross-examined in a manner that portrayed him in a “very prejudicial” light.
