Idlib, Syria and Reyhanli, Türkiye – When Khalid Abdel Razek Abu al-Zumar learned that his five-year-old son had been accepted into a program to restore his hearing, he rushed to bow down in prayer to thank God.
Aslan, a smiling, well-dressed little boy, has been hard of hearing all his life and now he has the chance to hear his family’s voices and play with other children his age in a whole new way.
“My heart broke every time children avoided playing with my children because they couldn’t communicate with them in the usual way,” said Khalid, 31 and a father of five.
