RippleX, the development arm of Ripple, has introduced a new project within the XRP Ledger ecosystem called Filedgr. It uses the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to provide advanced authentication and data management solutions, particularly aimed at improving artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The project was introduced in a blog post on RippleX’s XRPL blog in the “Developer Reflections” series, which showcases innovative projects within the ecosystem.

The Filedgr platform is designed to enable users to benefit from Web3 technologies, ensuring secure data control and transparency. The blog post states: “Filedgr differentiates itself by offering unique features such as digital certificates and the Digital Twin Data Hub, revolutionizing industries with authenticated data and fostering trust in product information.”
Filedgr integration leverages XRPL’s capabilities to efficiently handle large data transactions. XRPL is known for its high transaction speeds and low fees, which are essential for managing the large volumes of data associated with product lifecycle information.
“The promise of Web3 is a decentralized internet where users have greater control over their data and digital assets. Filedgr harnesses the power of Web3using blockchain technology to ensure secure and transparent data storage and transfer,” the blog post says.
Filedgr’s Digital Certificates feature uses Smart NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) to securely authenticate and manage physical objects and their associated data. This ensures that the authenticity and integrity of data is maintained from its point of creation throughout its lifecycle. The Digital Twin Data Hub, another feature, acts as a secure repository for digital asset management. It provides advanced notarization and live data capture capabilities that facilitate informed decision-making based on real-time data.
As the Ripple blog points out, “Data authentication is essential to building trust in AI systems. Filedgr seeks to ensure data integrity through robust authentication processes, thereby increasing user confidence in the information generated by AI. This authentication not only protects against tampering, but also helps create a transparent and accountable AI ecosystem.”
From a technology perspective, Filedgr is based on an IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) fork that includes changes for access control and increased data redundancy tailored to enterprise applications. Data redundancy in Filedgr is managed through a Java sidecar application, using the Zookeeper framework to ensure that data is always accessible and reliable.
Additionally, access control within Filedgr is implemented via token-based access control, where digital certificates are hosted as Single Page Applications (SPAs) on a private IPFS cluster, effectively securing and controlling access to data.
Looking to the future, Filedgr plans to transform into a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), which the Ripple blog describes as promoting “transparency and community-driven governance.” The Filedgr Foundation is tasked with overseeing this transition, ensuring that the organization operates efficiently. Additionally, Filedgr is exploring the development of industry-specific spin-offs, adapting its technology to meet the needs of various sectors such as agriculture and mobility.
At press time, XRP was trading at $0.6033.
