Country singer Ingrid Andress said she was intoxicated and planning to check into a rehab facility after performing the U.S. national anthem before Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby.
“I’m not going to insult you, I was drunk last night. I’m going to a medical facility today to get the help I need,” the four-time Grammy nominee posted on social media Tuesday. “That wasn’t me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country I love so much for that interpretation.”
Major League Baseball has not yet commented on Andress’ social media comments or his performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” Monday in Arlington, Texas.
Andress, 32,’s performance Monday was widely criticized, even drawing comparisons to Roseanne Barr’s famous performance at a 1990 San Diego Padres game.
Country singer Cody Johnson is expected to perform the national anthem before Tuesday’s All-Star Game.
