President Biden repeatedly pushed NBC News’ Lester Holt on Monday on the media allegedly ignoring former President Trump’s “lies” and attacking his performance in the first presidential debate.
After discussing the attempted assassination of Trump, Holt’s questions turned to the debate and its aftermath. The reporter asked about Biden’s Last TV Interview He did not seem sure whether he had watched the debate. The president responded that he had not seen the entire debate, but had seen excerpts.
“The reason I ask that question is the question is, are you all on the same page in the White House? Are you seeing what they saw, which is, frankly, moments where you seemed confused?” Holt asked.
“Lester, listen,” Biden began. “Why don’t you ever talk about the 18, 28 lies he told? Where are you at? Why doesn’t the press ever talk about it? It’s been confirmed 28 times that he lied in that debate. I had a terrible night. I didn’t feel good at all. I had… I had made a mistake.”

Holt continued: “I’m just asking because the idea of whether or not you could have seen what some of these other people saw, you’re not on the same page-“
“I didn’t need to see. I was there!” Biden retorted. “By the way, seriously, you’re not going to answer the question, but why didn’t the press report on all the lies he told?”
“We have reported on many of the issues that were raised during the debate,” Holt responded.
“No, it’s not. No, it’s not,” Biden insisted.
“We will provide them to you,” Holt said.
“God love you,” Biden replied with a smirk.
Biden attacked the media throughout the interview. In another instance, he fired back when Holt referenced comments Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance had made about him.
“He said some things about me, but look what he said about Trump. What’s wrong with you guys? Come on, man,” Biden said.
Another time, he responded to Holt when asked if he would be willing to debate Trump before the next debate scheduled for September.
“If the opportunity arises to have (another debate) between now and then, is there a sense of willingness to get back on that horse?” Holt asked.
“I’m on a horse! Where have you been? I’ve been to 22 major events and thousands of people, overwhelming crowds. There’s a lot going on,” Biden responded.
At the end of the interview, Biden also said: “Someday I’m going to come talk to you about what we should be talking about, okay? Problems.”
“Always happy to talk,” Holt replied.
DEMOCRATS, MEDIA CALL ON BIDEN TO DO MORE INTERVIEWS, PRESS CONFERENCES AT THE HEART OF THE DEBATE
Although Biden accused NBC of ignoring Trump’s comments during the debate, NBC conducted several fact checks. Trump’s statementsdescribing it as having unleashed a “torrent of misinformation on topics ranging from terrorism to taxes” during the confrontation.
“Trump, meanwhile, provided numerous falsehoods and misleading statements in his responses. He lambasted Biden on immigration and the border, even when asked about other topics. And he repeatedly dodged questions about whether he accepted the election results,” another NBC report read.
Since the disastrous debate between Biden and Trump, several media experts and Democratic officials have called on the president to withdraw from the race.
