Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, reiterated his support for President Biden after his much-criticized performance in last month’s debate.
Fetterman told Fox News host Jesse Watters on “Jesse Watters Primetime” Wednesday that he realizes Biden is not as sharp as he was a few years ago, but that does not change his support for the commander in chief.
“I don’t think I’ve seen anything that makes me want to change that,” he said. “I don’t follow him blindly, but I fundamentally believe he’s been a great president and I believe that at the end of the day he can prevail.”

Biden has refuted calls from his own party to withdraw from the 2024 race, saying in a letter to House Democrats on Monday that he is the best candidate can beat former President Trump in November.
Nine House Democrats and one Democratic senator have called on Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race since his disastrous performance in CNN’s presidential debate in Atlanta, according to an Associated Press tally.
Fetterman admitted to Watters that he had only seen parts of Biden-Trump debateBut there is no doubt that the president had a “bad night.”
He said he spent a year with Biden at events across Pennsylvania and that to him he was “normal” and “engaged.”

“He was actually really popular, and people were eager to take selfies and stuff like that. So I really want to remind everyone that Joe Biden did a really good job as president, and I’m basically going to stick with that,” Fetterman added.

The former Braddock mayor said that ultimately, debates don’t mean much and that conversations about Biden withdraws should stop.
“Joe Biden will be our guy, and it will be difficult and uncertain, but it will also be very close,” he told Watters.

“I refuse to turn my back on a great president, and I know people watching may not agree that he wasn’t a great president, but I believe he was. And I think loyalty is really one of the last… It’s one of the last currencies in this dirty business.”
