Forward Dairon Asprilla’s 10-year streak with the Portland Timbers ended Tuesday.
The club transferred the 32-year-old veteran to Atlético Nacional in his native Colombia.
He has scored 33 goals and 20 assists in 203 MLS games (114 starts) since making his debut in Portland in 2015.
“While Dairon is leaving Portland, the impact he made during his time with the club will not be forgotten. He provided Portland Timbers fans with some of the most memorable moments with his unique ability to do the unexpected,” said Timbers General Manager Ned Grabavoy. “Dairon’s commitment, work ethic and selfless nature will be missed by our group. We wish Dairon all the best in his new opportunity and are grateful for all of his contributions over the years.”
Asprilla has one goal and three assists in 19 games (seven as a start) this season. He became the third player in MLS history to have at least 20 goals and 20 assists in a career, joining Sebastian Blanco and Diego Valeri.
He recorded his 200th MLS regular season appearance with the Timbers on May 29, becoming the fourth player in club history to reach the milestone after Diego Chara, Darlington Nagbe and Valeri.
