Amidst increasing exploits among high-ranking celebrities, Solana Blockchain remains the first choice of these hackers to carry out their fraudulent operations. In a shocking turn of events, music sensation and superstar Doja Cat became the latest victim of celebrity hacks when her X account (formerly Twitter) was compromise to support a fake meme currency based on Solana under the symbol “DOJA”.
This incident highlights the growing trend of scammers promoting cryptocurrency schemes through well-known social media platforms like X. It also underscores the importance for users to exercise caution when interacting with digital assets and to verify the authenticity of investment opportunities, especially those promoted on celebrity accounts.
Solana-Based Fake Meme Currency ‘DOJA’ Sparks Frenzy
Superstar Doja Cat took center stage on Monday when her X account, with over 5.6 million followers, was hacked by cybercriminals to promote her Solana-inspired scam. coin memeDoja’s followers became aware of the hack after several unauthorized posts regarding the new meme coin were made using her account.
Taking advantage of Doja’s prominent position and large number of followers on social media, the hackers used her followers as bait to post false information and fake links, encouraging them to invest in the fraudulent DOJA cryptocurrency after the breach.
The initial post featured a photo of DOJA holding a knife with the words “Buy DOJA or else” and a link claiming to sell the Solana scam piece. The hacker subsequently removed Doja Cat’s description and profile picture from her account, which has millions of followers, and posted more than two dozen additional messages to lure her fans.
However, unlike previous incidents involving 50 Cent and Hulk Hogan, followers did not fall for the hacker’s fraudulent scheme, and the exploit therefore did not live up to the criminal’s expectations. The speed with which Doja informed her followers that her account had been compromised by hackers is also responsible for this phenomenon.
Hours after the incident, the superstar took to her Instagram account to update her fans on the situation after being called out by several of her followers. “It’s not me, it’s literally a fake. You don’t believe anyone, okay? It was someone else,” she said.
Hackers likely to target more celebrity profiles
As the cryptocurrency landscape evolves, the hack of Doja Cat’s X account is part of a larger trend in which cybercriminals are taking advantage of celebrities’ social media profiles to advertise fake tokens. The hack comes just a week after actress and Hollywood superstar Sydney Sweeney was the victim of a similar attack.
These hackers also took control of Sweeney’s X account to promote his inspired name Solana’s meme piece “SWEENEY”.” However, his team quickly intervened, regaining control of his account to prevent further losses.
