The New York Mets activated relief pitcher Edwin Diaz on Saturday after he served a 10-game suspension for violating MLB’s foreign substance policy.
The Mets, who continue their weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, also called up right-hander Eric Orze and sent right-hander Ty Adcock to Triple-A Syracuse.
Before his suspension, Diaz, 30, had two saves and a win after being placed on the injured list June 13 with a shoulder injury. He is 2-1 with a 4.70 ERA this year, with seven saves in 11 chances.
Orze, 26, the Mets’ fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft, has yet to make his major league debut. He went undefeated in Syracuse this season, going 3-0 with a 3.76 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings over 26 games.
Adcock, 27, has a 14.54 ERA in three relief appearances for the Mets in 2024.
