THE best windows laptop what we have tested so far in 2024 is — drum roll please – THE HP OmniBook X.
Not only does it have a surprisingly long battery life, but its performance beats the rest MacBook Pro M3 And MacBook Air M3The OmniBook X is part of a new wave of Copilot+ machines and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite PCs.
What is a Copilot+ PC?
If you’re not aware, one of the reasons Copilot+ PCs have gained popularity is because Microsoft announced the new AI-powered reminder feature alongside its new Surface Laptop 7 And Surface Pro 11 devices (which were among the first Copilot+ PCs to hit the market.)
Microsoft has made it clear that you can only take advantage of Recall if you own a Copilot+ PC.

Reminderwhich takes continuous screenshots of your screen so you can search for your own digital footprint via a timeline, has sparked a lot of controversy. If social media is to be believed, many people have been scared by thisCybersecurity experts were concerned about Recall’s security, calling it “privacy nightmare”.
Reminder was to be launched alongside the new generation of Copilot+ PCs, which are AI-powered Windows laptops must have a qualified NPUa specialized processor that handles AI tasks.
The processor that powers many Copilot+ PCs today is the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip. And let me tell you, it has revolutionized the laptop industry.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite threatens MacBooks
Last year, if you asked me, a laptop expert and tester, “Which laptop should I buy that offers long battery life and robust performance?”, I would advise you to buy an M3 MacBook.

While you can find a Windows laptop with excellent performance, they aren’t the most energy-efficient machines, especially when compared to MacBooks.
However, the launch of Copilot+ PCs, which often sport a Snapdragon X Elite chip, is changing my mind in 2024. Qualcomm has boasted that it will beat the M3 chip in terms of power efficiency and performance – and it’s not wrong.
Mashable has reviewed its first Copilot+ PC, the Snapdragon X Elite-powered HP OmniBook X, and it’s a game-changer for Windows laptops.
HP OmniBook X outperforms MacBook Air M3 in battery life and performance
We ran a 1080p video test to see how long the OmniBook X lasted after a charge, so imagine our surprise when we found that the HP laptop lasted an incredible amount of time. 16 hours and 47 minutes. It’s been almost 17 hours.

MacBooks usually last quite a long time, but the 15-inch MacBook Air M3 failed after just 10 hours and 52 minutes on the same test.
On Geekbench 6, which tests processor performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip achieved a multi-core score of 13,888beating the MacBook Air M3’s score by 12,057.

For what it’s worth, we also tested the OmniBook X against the MacBook Pro M3. The HP laptop beat it, too. (13,888 versus 11,998).
As such, if you’re not married to the Apple ecosystem and are operating system agnostic, the HP OmniBook may be the best choice for you if you’re looking for a durable and capable PC.
You can buy the HP OmniBook X with 1TB of storage at Best buy for $1,199. There is also a cheaper variant with 512GB of storage, which will set you back a lot. $1,049.99 via HP.
