Who has time to moan about summer when there are new gadgets to discover? This month, we got an update on the Insta360 GO and a new mini-LED QLED from Sony. We also tested the ROG Ally Xwhich has a larger battery than the Steam Deck. These JBL Speakers are affordable and perfect for going out on a boat, bike ride, or anywhere loud music is socially acceptable. Here’s what we loved in June 2024.
Insta 360 GO 3S
The $400 Insta360 Go 3S is not just a pet action camera, but why would you use it for anything else? It’s an update to last year’s GO 3 with up to 4K shooting at 30fps (up from a maximum of 2.7K on the regular GO 3), which reduces distortion when you’re moving around. The GO 3S has a wider lens than the regular GO 3 (16mm versus 11mm on the previous GO), which helps reduce edge distortion.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8
4K at $1,300 Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 brings all the saturation and liveliness of the brand’s smartphones to your PC or console gaming experience with a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz. If that’s not enough, the Odyssey will let you stream all your favorite apps and games without a console.
ROG Ally X
The $800 ROG Ally X The new laptop launched this month, barely a year after its predecessor was released. But it already boasts more promising battery life and performance thanks to its larger battery and more memory. The chassis has also been redesigned to be more comfortable for long gaming sessions.
Asus ProArt Laptops
The new from Asus ProArt Laptops are two-in-one devices powered by AMD and Qualcomm chips. They’re part of Microsoft’s Co-Pilot+ rollout, but at least they look more promising than other manufacturers’ AI-first PCs. The base ProArt P16 laptop is effectively an ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop in a thinner, more portable chassis.
Sony Bravia 7 Mini-LED QLED 4K TV
Sony TVs continue to be great buys. The 65-inch model at $2,000 Sony Bravia 7 The TV doesn’t stand out from other QLED models, but its HDR colors are bright and beautiful for watching content. The only downside is that you have to make sure no direct light shines on the TV, as it tends to produce reflections.
JBL Clip 5 and Go 4
Summer is a great time to invest in a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, especially if you’re going somewhere where you can listen to music. JBL Clip 5 and Go 4 Each weighs less than a pound, making them easy to carry in a backpack or beach bag. They cost $80 and $50, respectively.
