Yes, I will have a conversation with her. Here is a reprint of an article by MR reviewing her new book In this economy;
“The subtitle is How Money and Markets Really WorkI’m a big fan of Kyla Scanlon (see link for his other works), who is a force of nature. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2019 and she has a very effective new approach to how to speak. I first heard about her through her how-to videos, and it turns out she does one almost every day.
In addition to being very well done, this economics book has two notable features. First of all, it elevates the notion of “atmosphere“as an important determinant of economic activity. I use the older (and less fashionable) terminology of “cultural contagion,” but in any case I consider it to be a neglected and under-analyzed set of forces, including in the economic sphere.
Second, this is the first popular economics book I’ve seen that takes the year 2024 seriously. Imagine training a “great language human” in what people are actually talking about and worrying about today today, and you give this human the freedom to write an economics book. This is what you would get. It is a positive and invigorating shock for those who have trained their memory on a weighted average of a more distant past.
By the way, here is some of Kyla’s favorite poems. Why are there no major MSM profiles of her?
So what should I ask?
